3T Logistics has appointed a new IT director to enable the company to expand its software as a service (SaaS) and client information systems (IS), which are designed to help companies manage their logistics processes more efficiently.

Saas and cloud-based logistics technology

Simon Hughes was appointed to the post in August with the aim of increasing scalability and bringing a more robust structure to the IT department and client IS services. As transport management experts, 3T are also currently expanding their SaaS offering and moving to cloud-based logistics services. Simon will help to ensure security and a best-in-class customer experience.

Experience in information systems

Simon brings over 20 years’ experience working in information systems at a senior management level. He has worked in roles such as Senior European IT Director for Ralph Lauren where he led IT development and strategy and project managed major system change implementations. More recently he has been engaged at a senior level by US, European and Global companies developing and delivering IT strategic programmes and solutions. Simon holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Cardiff University.

Simon is delighted to be moving to 3T, saying: “Companies like 3T are the future of transport management and offer the sophisticated logistics technology that the industry desperately needs if it is to meet changing customer demand. They invest in the research and development that is critical to creating the fast and efficient supply chains that are key for most businesses. I very much look forward to playing a part in taking the company even further.”

Innovative software solutions for the transport industry

3T Logistics has had one of its most successful years to date in terms of growth and turnover. The company was also awarded Gold Partnership status by Microsoft for their innovative software solutions and also recently achieved IS27001, the world’s highest certification for information security and service management.

The appointment of Simon Hughes is part of the company’s plan to expand its workforce and grow the business over the coming decade.

“We are all about new technology and how it can revolutionise logistics,” comments 3T’s MD Tim Fawkes. “That also means investing in the right staff to take the company forward. With his extensive experience in IT we are confident that Simon will help us to grow and improve our systems even further.”
